Mekong Delta – a wetland worth a visit

The Touropia – a famous travel website has released a list of top ten most important wetlands in the world which includes the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.

According to the website, the Mekong Delta attracts many tourists thanks to its colorful floating markets, fruit orchards, rice paddies, sugar cane groves, bird sanctuaries and quaint villages. Nicknamed “Vietnam’s Rice Basket,” the Mekong Delta is an agricultural region made fertile by the maze of canals and streams fed by the Mekong River. Stretching from the Gulf of Thailand to Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta feeds more than a third of the country from its rich plantations, orchards, rice paddies and fish farms.

Coming to Mekong Delta, tourists cannot miss a cruise along the Mekong River, to best experience the delta with its best beauties, from bustling floating market, fresh air, friendly people and stunning sceneries.

Other names in the list of top ten worldwide wetlands are Pantanal, Sundarbans, Okavango Delta, Everglades, etc.
